English is an important skill that opens up new opportunities and broadens horizons. In Daikundi, many people understand the importance of education and private English courses are common. However, given the dire economic circumstances in Afghanistan today many families cannot afford English classes for their kids. We support eight female English teachers so that they can offer courses locally for the kids free of charge. As of April 2023, 502 kids are attending the courses, organised in 11 classes of three different levels.
In April 2023, we bought school books and other material for the courses. We got English books for the more advanced kids, and note books for everyone. In addition, we bought one whiteboard and four CD players for audio exercises.
