Daikundi Irrigation Initiative
Fight Poverty, Fight Climate Change, Empower Humanity
The Daikundi Irrigation Initiative assists communities in Daikundi, Afghanistan, to implement small-scale irrigation and development projects to enhance economic opportunities and help adaptation to climate change. It is a project partner of DARYA.
Our Projects
Irrigation and Drinking Water
We help villagers in Miramor, Daikundi, construct irrigation pools and irrigation channels to water their almond trees and build or restore drinking water infrastructure.
Climate Change
Afghanistan is suffering from extreme weather events - both droughts and floods - due to climate change. We help villagers improve local water infrastructure to better adapt to climate change. Via tree planting and agroforestry on previously barren land we participate in the fight against climate change.
Education
Education paves the way towards a better future for all. We support basic education and raise awareness for sustainable water management.
To fight poverty, give people the means to help themselves.
Daikundi Irrigation Initiative
ABOUT US
We believe the locals know best how to improve their situation.
Daikundi Irrigation Initiative is a private initiative to support locals in implementing their own irrigation projects with donations from Austria.
SUPPORT US
Our work is based on low-budget interventions. Nevertheless, costs arise for which we depend on donations. We buy construction material for the irrigation projects and give some support to our partners in Afghanistan to enable them to do their invaluable work. Right now, we are collecting donations for the school in Bargar.
THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS
Thank you to Jugend Eine Welt for their generous support!
Jugend Eine Welt, an Austrian organisation promoting educational initiatives worldwide, supports all our programmes from irrigation and agriculture to education. With their help, we were able to launch several small-scale irrigation projects and continue building from there. We appreciate the cooperation and continuing support from Jugend Eine Welt very much.
